Promoting German language & culture Across Regina & southern saskatchewan

Herzlich Willkommen

Das Schulhaus is a registered charitable non-profit German Language School founded to teach and promote the German language and culture in a contemporary, engaging and efficient way for Regina and surrounding communities. In this way, we continue the over 65-year legacy of German language education in Regina.

Authenticity is the cornerstone of our language instruction and the foundation for cultural experience. In a world filled with continuous change and cultural diversity, studying an additional language prepares students for life in a global world. Students develop a knowledge and appreciation for the German culture, as well as other cultures they encounter in life. Students learn German based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Let’s learn German

Wer fremde Sprachen nicht kennt, weiß nichts von seiner eigenen.

He who doesn’t know a foreign language, knows nothing about his own

— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Our teaching team is comprised of educated professionals, certified language instructors, and individuals pursuing an ongoing education or certification. All teachers participate regularly in professional learning and exchanging of teaching experiences to ensure best practice. Many of our teachers are native speakers.

Our children’s classes include students at all levels of fluency. Part of our school culture is a fresh, interactive communicative approach to German language instruction with up to date learning materials and authentic cultural activities.

We teach all aspects of the German language in speaking, reading, writing and listening comprehension. In addition, cultural, geographical and historical aspects of all German speaking countries (Germany, Switzerland and Austria) form an integral part of our curricula.

We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 4 territory, the original lands of the Cree, Ojibwe, Saulteaux, Dakota, Nakota, Lakota, and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.
